How Do You Handle Adjustments?
Last year I had to have 4 stents put into my heart. When the bill came it was for $8.58. (We have insurance through my wife’s company and it is great) So I wrote a check for $8.58 and sent it to the hospital and moved on with life. Now ten months later I get a notice from the hospital that they had made an adjustment to my bill. I now owed $42,006.80 and they wanted me to pay it that day. WOW! Talk about an adjustment.
I mean I am not the type of person who has $42,006.80 laying around to pay at one time, maybe the $6.80 if I skip lunch one day but not the rest of it. I didn’t freak out about the “adjustment” I just turned it over to the insurance company and they will straighten it out with the hospital for me. I am sure that there is a billing issue or something that the insurance people will resolve with the hospital. So because the insurance people will do their job I don’t have to worry.
How do we handle adjustments of every kind in our life? Financial loses, health issues, accidents, the loss of a loved one, loss of job and the list goes on and on. We think that everything is in order in our life and then in Gomer Pyle’s voice – “Surprise, Surprise, Surprise.” Do we freak out and worry ourselves to death? We shouldn’t be anxious because we have someone bigger than an insurance company on our side. God has promised “to meet all of our needs according to His riches in Glory” and His riches are immeasurable.
The Bible also reminds us that, “Is anything (Or any amount) too difficult for God?” and for us to “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” God is bigger and better equipped to handle any of life adjustment’s that are thrown your way.
You can’t control the adjustments that come into your life but you can control how you handle them. You can try and solve them in your own power and resources or you can turn them over to God and ask Him to give you peace and wisdom on what to do. HE can handle them better than we can.
When a child gets a problem that they think is too difficult for them to solve they go to their parents to help them. So, Child of God, take all of your problems, cares, concerns, fears, worries to Daddy God and when you turn them over to Him He will handle them and you can have peace.
