God Can Heal An Air Conditioner
We were having a lot of trouble with an older model air conditioner in the sanctuary of the church. The technicians had been out several times to try and fix it but it kept being stubborn and not working right. They had thrown around figures in the high thousands of dollars to replace the unit. I knew that we really didn’t have that kind of money so we kept trying to fix it.
One day the main technician was there trying to get the unit going right. I went in to talk to him about the unit. Then it hit me right between the eyes. I had not prayed with the technician as I usually do with workers at the church. And I had not prayed about God fixing (healing) the unit.
So I asked the technician if I could pray with him. He said sure, that would be great. I prayed for his safety going up and down the ladder and his working out in the scorching heat. I then prayed that God would give him wisdom to find the problem with the air conditioner so that it could be fixed (Healed).
The technician went back up on the roof and almost immediately he found the problem. They had already tried several other things and this part almost never goes bad. In just a little bit he had it fixed and we were back in the cooling business. I praised God that he had met our needs in healing our air conditioner and that we didn’t have to buy a new one.
If we really trust God as we say then why don’t we pray about everything? Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
You can laugh and say that God doesn’t care about an a/c unit and that he didn’t “heal” it. I disagree. God cares about everything, big and small that His children are facing. If I had been sick and needed surgery, I would pray for God to work through the surgeon to bring healing to me. So why not pray for an a/c technician to be used to bring healing to the unit?
The Bible tells us in James 4:2b – “You don’t have because you don’t ask” This isn’t a promise that God will give you everything that you ask for. But it is an assurance that God is a good Father and He wants to help his children. So when we ask Him for something and He will receive the glory through the answer, He will reward our faith to ask of Him.
So have faith and ask Him to do what pleases Him. He can even heal an air conditioner or at least show the technician where to look for the problem.
