“Like It Never Happened…”
A disaster cleanup and restoration company has a slogan that says, “Like it never happened”. They advertise that no matter what disaster you encounter they can put your home or business back as if the disaster had never happened. It doesn’t matter if it is a fire, storm disaster, flood caused by a storm, toilet overflow, broken pipes. They also cleanup and restore mold damage and even advertise that they clean up and restore blood damage on walls, carpet, and furniture. All with the promise that it will be restored like it never happened.
I know people who have used these services and they testify that the company does an excellent job and that it truly does appear when the damage is cleaned up and restored it is like it never happened. Some even say that the restoration is even better than before the disaster happened.
In thinking about this it reminds me of the complete restoration that Jesus does in our life when we allow Him to clean up and restore the damage that sin has caused in our lives. The Bible tells us in II Corinthians 5:17 that “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” What sin has broken, damaged, and even destroyed the blood of Jesus can completely restore and even make better than like it was.
In John 10:10 Jesus says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” Jesus is promising that not only can He restore whatever damage to a life that the enemy has caused, He can make it abundantly better. The key is that we must allow Him to do what we cannot do – make things new.
Revelation 21:5 promises us that, “He who was seated on the throne (Jesus) said, “I am making everything new!” He can take you ruined, damaged, and destroyed by sin life and make it now a life of abundance. More good news is that the cleanup and restoration company charges a hefty fee for their services.
Jesus gives us His forgiveness, restoration, and new abundant life all for free. He paid the cost in full on the cross. His gift of grace, mercy, and love cost Him His life but He did that so that our damage from sin could be cleaned up and thus give us a fresh, clean, new life.
So if Jesus makes it like it never happened because Hebrews 8:12 says, “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”. So if He doesn’t remember our sin anymore then forgive yourself and don’t let the devil keep on dragging your past. You have a new future with new hope.
