The Art Gallery
The New Living translation of Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things (works) he planned for us long ago.” That means that when God made us, He didn’t make any junk. Each Christian is a unique masterpiece with a unique design that makes us special. God made each Christian to be a work of art that He is proud of. When we get saved, He takes our flaws, sins, mistakes, and bad attitudes and transforms them into a perfect piece of art that reflects His glory as the master designer.
So when the body of Christ, the church gathers together to worship him, it is like an art show. On a Sunday morning instead of saying that you are going to church, say, “I am going to the art gallery to be with other masterpieces of art” Of course that means that we fully acknowledge God as the MASTER in your being one of His masterpieces.
HE is the one who made us – not we ourselves. HE gets all the glory and honor – not us. We are just the lump of clay that HE is molding and shaping into something beautiful. When we were living our own life and doing our own things before we surrendered to Him – we were making a big mess instead of a masterpiece. Thank God we quit trying to do things our way and allowed Him to take over and make us a new creation that is now a masterpiece. That is what it means when it says that “He has created us ANEW in Christ Jesus”
We also can’t be jealous of other masterpieces that He is making. He is making each of us different for the tasks that He has planned for our lives. We aren’t competing against other masterpieces but working in cooperation for the glory of the Master. If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, please know that God sees you as perfect and complete because He sees you through the lens of the Blood of Jesus.
But we are not created to show off and stand around for people to admire us. The last part of this scripture says that God created us as masterpieces “to do good things (works) that He has planned for us to do.” That is why He makes each masterpiece different. We all have different talents, gifts, and abilities in order to do the work that He has planned for each of us. When we take those things and work together with other masterpieces it makes a beautiful picture that is a masterpiece in itself.
God is still working on us and shaping us as we grow and mature in him. The old song says, “He’s still working on me. To make me what I outta be” So be pliable, flexible and easy to work with as the Master shapes you into the MASTER’S PIECE that He wants you to be.
