The Wall Comes Falling Down

I don’t play very many video games. One that I do play has this wall of various colored tiles. The object is to match the colors of the tiles together and when you do that row of tiles will be destroyed. As you are matching the tiles more tiles are coming so you can never go through the wall without matching all of the tiles. When you have matched enough tiles and reach a certain point a star appears and when you click on it, it destroys all the remaining tiles and the wall falls down.

This video game has a spiritual application in our lives. When we sin it throws up a wall that breaks the fellowship with God. God is Holy and He cannot look upon sin. So as long as we have unconfessed sin in our lives, we have a wall that separates us from God. No matter how hard we try and how many times we hit the wall we cannot breakthrough. It is always a tougher challenge than we can conquer on our own.

When we get into trouble, we can try the attack on the wall by being good, asking God to help us, begging, and even trying to bribe God – “Oh God if you will just do this or that then I will get back in church and read my Bible” All of this does not get through the wall that sin has created. This wall keeps our prayers from being answered because sin has broken our fellowship with God.

It is not that God doesn’t care or doesn’t want to help you. That wall keeps on growing and shooting new tiles at us faster than we, on or own, can destroy them. God wants the wall to come down but we must take the right step to see it come falling down. I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, God is faithful to forgive us our sin, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.  When we confess our sins, it is like hitting that star on the video game. All the tiles that make up that wall that has been keeping you from breaking through suddenly are destroyed and you are able to breakthrough.

The broken fellowship that sin has caused is destroyed and now complete fellowship with God is available. No more barrier between Him as your heavenly Father and you as His child in perfect union. Take the time to allow the Holy Spirit to search your heart and mind and see if there is anything that is hindering your relationship with God. If the Holy Spirit reveals something that needs to be confessed or dealt with, then take the time to do business with God and be completely restored to Him.
