Are You A Worryolic? Part # 2

Stop serving the false gods of worry and fear. When worry starts to creep in then begin immediately to read verses of scripture like Matthew 6:25-32 and the dozens of more like it that encourage us to be focusing on God and not the things that are worrying us. Also pray and ask God to replace your worry and fear with a Holy focus on Him and listen for His words of encouragement and direction.

Some people tell me that they can’t help but worry. That it is a part of their nature and who they are. They have tried but they just can’t quit worrying. I say that sounds exactly like what I hear from drug addicts and alcoholics. I then tell them that they are RIGHT. They CAN NOT quit on their own. SO they need the help of something / someone more powerful than themselves.

Instead of using the fact that you cannot change as an EXCUSE use it as a CONFESSION and a PLEA to God for help for Him to change you. Ask God to send the Holy Spirit to live and reign in their hearts and minds, HE can help you overcome the temptation and the struggles.

The worryolic also needs to ask God to make them a new creation. In II Corinthians 5:17 we read, “Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” This beautiful promise gives us the assurance that God can make us new. He can give us a fresh start and take away the old sinful nature that causes us to live in worry and fear. Claim that promise and proclaim that you are not the old worryolic that you used to be. You are now a strong Child of God who is allowing your Heavenly Father to take care of the things that you cannot handle.

When you tell the whole world that you are a follower of Jesus but then turn right around and say that you are worried or scared to death you lose your credibility as a Christian. If you say that you love and trust God with your soul and to take you to Heaven then why can’t you trust Him with the small things that you are worrying about and allowing THEM to control you instead of HIM?

We have a great support group to help you overcome your worryolicism. It is not called “Worry’s Anonymous”. It goes by such names as the church, the family of God, the body of Christ. Come and let us help you discover what the Bible describes as, “The peace of God that passes all understanding.”
