Tuesday’s Truth

Tuesday’s Truth is a free weekly devotional shared by Rev. Gary Mimbs

Your Password

Have you ever forgotten your password to get into your computer or an app on your computer? Truth be known we all have forgotten one or more passwords along the way. We usually have to start over and reset the password or answer some security questions in order to verify that we are the legitimate person trying to enter the account.

I have many different passwords for many different accounts and apps that I use so it is hard to keep up with them all. The password to get me into my computer is not the same as the one to log onto my gmail account to publish this devotional and the list goes on and on. It doesn’t matter how accurate my password is for my gmail account  no matter how many times that I enter it, it will not unlock my computer to even let me get started.

So the passwords are vitally important. My first introduction to passwords was when I was a child. I remember being in a club /group in my neighborhood. We would have a “secret” password that you had to give in order to gain entrance to the tree house where we were meeting. Even though the guy at the door knew me if I didn’t know (or could not remember) the password then he wasn’t supposed to let me in.

Do you know that you will have to have a password in order to enter into Heaven? It’s true. When you die and  get to the Pearly Gates and God or one of HIs angels  asks you why you should be allowed in – in other words – “What is the password to enter?” you better know. Or you aren’t going to enter into Heaven.

Some people will use the password that “I was a good person” or “I went to church”. Some will try, “I wasn’t as bad as most people – even church goers” or “I gave a lot of money”. The list of passwords goes on and on. But only ONE password will get you into Heaven. This password isn’t even secret though most people won’t accept it as theirs – they prefer their own.

The password to get you into Heaven is “JESUS”. But you must know more than the password – you must know Jesus personally. In other words you must make Him the Lord of your life. You must accept His free gift of salvation that He paid for on the cross at Calvary. God loves us so much that He shares His Son as the password to allow us entrance into Heaven for all eternity. We can’t “reset” the password; we either accept it or reject it. We can’t buy the password or even earn it. We just have to accept it and allow it to change our lives here on Earth as we live under the guidelines and directions that the password provides.

So if you haven’t accepted the eternal password that God has made available I encourage you to do so today. It will make your life more complete than you can ever imagine. And as a long term benefit you get to use this password to enter into Heaven one day.

In love with Jesus – Gary Mimbs
