Preparing The Way
Our family is going to spend a few days together at our family farm. We look forward to this time together each year. We meet up at the farm and enjoy just chilling out and fishing in the family pond and riding the golf carts exploring the farm.
I was at the farm recently and noticed that the weeds and grass around the edge of the pond had grown up to a pretty high level. Since I had experienced shoulder surgery I had let the grass and weeds get out of control. Knowing that the 7 & 5 year old grandkids were coming next week I knew that action needed to be taken. I got out the weed eater and spent several hours trimming the grass and weeds around the pond. It was hot, sweaty, and muddy work but necessary.
I wanted my grandkids to experience a great, safe time as they fished and played around the pond. So I took care of the danger before they got there. (When the grass is high slithery creatures like to hide in it and thus cause danger). I didn’t want them or us to encounter a snake. So it was worth my time to prepare the way around the pond for them. They won’t even know that I did all of this when they arrive they will just enjoy the pond and our time together.
I wonder how many times my Heavenly Father has gone ahead of me and prepared the way in my life so that I could enjoy a good time? How many times has He removed dangers and did things to protect me and provide for me so that I could have an abundant life. Yet I take His provision for granted and don’t take time to notice that things just don’t happen but He is at work even when I don’t see it or even know about it. He is a good, good Father who loves and protects me.
So as you go through life take the time to stop every once in a while and say “Thank You Father” for your love, protection and provision as you go ahead of me.
